Torrential rains in eastern Europe have caused extensive flooding of agricultural areas, raising the possibility of the region importing more grains and oilseeds.

Reuter news agency reports Poland might have to increase rapeseed imports to 500,000 tonnes.

The rains have also delayed harvest of winter crops in the Czech Republic and Hungary, hurting wheat quality. Crops have lodged in Germany. Two weeks of rain have killed nearly 100 people and flooded more than 600,000 acres.
