HyLife has achieved Safe Work Certified by Made Safe status, which is the industry-based safety program for manufacturing in Manitoba.
The pork producer is the biggest company in the manufacturing and food industry sectors to reach the safety certification status.
Headquartered in La Broquerie, Man., HyLife employs more than 4,500 people with 2,500 working in Manitoba across 160 sites.
According to Workers Compensation Board data, workplaces that implement a safety and health certification program experience 42 percent lower injury rates and 49 percent fewer workdays taken for time-loss injuries.
