Fertilizer manufacturer Yara International has ended its relationship with Agrico Canada Ltd.

Two years ago, Yara bought 25 percent of Agrico with the option of buying the remainder of the company by the end of August 2010.

Yara has changed its direction and created a way for Agrico shareholders to buy back their shares.

“The news, while somewhat disappointing, does not change Agrico’s commitment to its customers and joint venture partners,” said Agrico president Bob Whitelaw.

Agrico operates facilities and joint ventures in Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Minnesota.
