Feb. 1 is the deadline for Alberta groups to apply for watershed stewardship grants of up to $7,500.
Watershed groups can apply for grants to fund projects that raise awareness of water issues in a community or that will improve local watershed conditions.
The program is not open to individuals or for-profit businesses, according to a news release from the Land Stewardship Centre.
Past recipients have used funds to arrange public forums, assess riparian areas, create offsite watering systems and develop grazing management plans.
Since the grant program started in 2006, more than 100 groups have shared about $1.5 million in funding.
Details and application forms are available at www.landstewardship.org.
