SASKATOON (Staff) — Any questions on agriculture energy can probably be answered at the new energy data bank in Saskatoon.

“It’s not just a dry, dusty stack of information,” said Malcolm Wilson, of Saskatchewan Energy and Mines.

The data bank will be a collection of existing information on agriculture energy information and a source for new information.

The Agriculture Energy Use Data and Analysis Centre was officially opened last week at the University of Saskatchewan agriculture economics department. It’s part of the federal government’s ongoing plan to create a data base to address concerns of global warming and energy conservation.

Wilson said he expects the data base will be used by researchers and companies.

“I hope the government and private sector will make use of the data,” said Wilson.
