Cow of the Year award

Jersey Canada has launched its first Canadian Jersey Cow of the Year Award.

The entry deadline is June 1.

The cow must be alive at the time of entry or alive at some point during the year of entry.

It must be purebred, registered, classified VG-85 or higher and bred and born in Canada.

Eligible cows must also have at least one lactation with a minimum of 350 kilograms of fat and 275 kg of protein.

Entries must be accompanied by a professional photo and must depict the animal in milking form.

The selection committee will narrow entries to a group of up to six cows.

Nominations will be announced by July 1.
