OTTAWA (Staff) – Country music fans with a television, cable service or satellite dish have hit pay dirt.

The Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission has announced that a Calgary-based 24-hour television country music station has been approved.

It will provide continuous country music videos, at least four of which will feature Canadian performers each hour.

“The Country Network will serve a large audience and will provide valuable exposure to Canada’s growing roster of country music artists,” said the CRTC.

The country station was one of eight specialty channels approved two weeks ago by the federal airwaves regulator.
