Vet college accredited

The University of Saskatchewan’s Western College of Veterinary Medicine has achieved full accreditation status for another seven years from the American Veterinary Medical Association’s council on education.

The decision means students can continue writing the North American Veterinary Licensing Exam, a comprehensive test written by all Canadian and American vet students in their final year of study. The accreditation also means students are eligible to practise anywhere in Canada, the United States and several other countries.

The decision was made after accreditation team members spent a week examining the college last December.

They interviewed staff, students, faculty, alumni and local practitioners and reviewed the college’s operations, including finances, physical facilities, clinical resources, library and information resources and curriculum.
