Lethbridge College will use a recently announced $1.75 million renewable grant to augment agriculture research.

The funds, made available by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, will be used to create the Integrated Agriculture Technology Centre (IATC) at the college, according to a May 20 news release.

The IATC is expected to give farmers, greenhouse growers, aquaculture operations, food processors and ag-tech companies access to applied research and technical services at the college.

Kenny Corscadden, the college’s association vice-president of research, said the new centre will offer access to expert consultants and specialized equipment in areas including waste treatment, irrigation, water processing, automation and food safety.
