Cargill will close its elevator in Birch Hills, Sask., at the end of this year but will continue to sell crop inputs from the location.
It will stop accepting grain deliveries at the small elevator Dec. 1 and will close it Dec. 31.
“We will continue to serve customers’ needs through this location, and all grain shipments will be handled at our neighbouring Clavet or Nicklen Siding facilities,” Blaine Duncan, farm service group manager for Birch Hills, said in a news release.
Cargill said the decision was based on its “commitment to maintain a safe, efficient and cost effective network.”
It also said the elevator did not have rail service between December and April.
