March was a good month for tractor sales in Canada.
Two-wheel drive tractor sales were up about 14 percent over the same month last year and four-wheel drive sales were up about 13 percent, according to statistics from the Association of Equipment Manufacturers. Most of the tractor sales were in the less than 100 horsepower category.
In the first three months of the year the gains were more modest. Two-wheel drive sales for the quarter were up 0.7 percent and four-wheel drive sales rose by 2.3 percent.
March combine sales were off almost five percent from the same month last year. In the year to date, combine sales were down three percent.
In the U.S., total tractor sales in the first quarter were up 0.7 percent and combine sales were up about 15 percent.
