A 10-year-old boy has died following a farm accident near Killam, Alta.
The accident occurred Nov. 21 at 11 a.m. when the boy was driving a forklift along a gravel roadway and lost control of the machine. The machine drove into the ditch and rolled.
The RCMP said the boy was pronounced dead on the scene.
Nearby witnesses administered first aid but efforts to revive him were not successful.
Members of the family said the boy operated the machine in the past and was familiar with it.
RCMP is not releasing the name of the child out of respect for the family’s privacy.
Alberta’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said there were 11 farm deaths in 2015, before this incident.
Four of those were children, including three sisters who died three weeks ago after becoming buried under canola in a grain truck near Withrow, Alta.
