WINNIPEG (Staff) – The Canadian Wheat Board announced last week it will accept all the wheat and barley offered by farmers under Series D contracts. Farmers will be able to deliver until July 31.

Adrian Measner, the board’s executive director of marketing, said the board was able to accept the entire Series D sign-up because strong demand and a tight world supply situation for wheat has kept the market outlook positive throughout the crop year.

The barley market, on the other hand, has gotten stronger. “The market outlook for barley has improved considerably since March. Stronger U.S. corn prices, firmer export demand for barley and a tighter supply situation for coarse grains in general have been the key market factors.”
