Bison bull sets a sales record

A two-year-old bison bull set a Canadian record, selling for $31,000 at the Wild Rose Classic Bison Sale in Camrose, Alta.

The bull owned by Joe and Georgina Orcheski, of Round Hill, Alta., was bought by Mike Kluzney of Winfield, Alta.

The Orcheskis also sold a 1996 bull calf for $17,000, which tied a Canadian price record.

The 63 head sold for an average of $6,583 and a total of $414,700. Twenty yearling bulls sold for an average of $3,760, 19 two-year-old bulls sold for a $6,832 average, 19 yearling heifers sold for a $5,116 average and 15 two-year-old heifers sold for an average of $7,500.
