The Canadian Wheat Board has announced a final payment of $41.64 per tonne for feed barley delivered to Pool A during the 2008-09 crop year.

The pool closed Jan. 31.

Farmers were to receive payment by direct deposit June 30. Those who receive payment by cheque can expect to begin receiving cheques in the mail by July 10.

The CWB also released a June Pool Return Outlook for its 2008-09 series B feed barley pool.

The PRO for No. 1 CW feed barley is $163 per tonne at port, steady with the May PRO.

The board said Canadian domestic feed barley prices were stronger due to production concerns, but prices from other exporters were flat to lower on high carryout stocks, weak global demand and approaching new crop harvest pressure.

The Black Sea region remains the cheapest source of feed barley for major Middle East buyers.
