The federal and British Columbia governments announced earlier this month that they are kickstarting an initiative to help farmers and ranchers affected by wildfires in the province earlier this year.
The initiative provides up to $5 million to help B.C. farmers and ranchers with costs they incurred as a result of the disaster.
Assistance includes costs related to animal health and safety; feed, shelter and transportation costs for livestock; and costs to re-establish perennial crop and pasture production damaged by fire.
The federal government is covering 60 percent of the costs while the province is covering 40 percent. Producers looking to access funding can get forms online. Forms must be submitted via email or in person by Jan. 31.
