In celebration of the 100th

anniversary of the women’s institutes movement, the Alberta WI is publishing two books.

Many and Remarkable outlines the history of AWI and tells of the organizations role in Alberta history. The Lea Park WI north of Vermilion, founded in February 1909, was the first in the province. WI branches taught women domestic skills but also lobbied politicians for better health care, schools and libraries.

The second publication, Tractor Trouble, is a children’s book meant to warn them of potential accidents on a farm.

To order the books contact the AWI at Suite 220, 10403 172 St. Edmonton, T5S 1K9.
