DynAgra, an independent ag retailer in southern Alberta, has been named retailer of the year by the Canadian Association of Agri-Retailers.

The award demonstrates excellence in customer service and satisfaction, community and industry leadership, business innovation, efficiency and safety.

DynAgra general manager Tasha Schmaltz said in a news release the company has introduced many innovations, including being one of the first independent retailers to have a full-time staff agronomist.

The company also worked with Valmar Industries to create a prototype twin bin floater.

“That innovation was instrumental in the 2004 development of DynAgra VRT,” Schmaltz said, which helped take precision farming to a new level.

The company also developed a web-based program called My Farm Manager to help growers manage data.

The family-based business has locations in Beiseker, Carseland, Rolling Hills and Standard.

DynAgra VRT is sold in Alberta and Saskatchewan.
