More than $60,000 has been raised to help a cattle trucker who was burned in a highway crash, said the co-owner of the Stettler, Alta., auction mart.

Greg Hayden said a livestock auction last week raised an initial $38,000 to help Rod Walstrom of Erskine, Alta.

The independent cattle hauler was hauling cattle from a community pasture when the accident happened south of Erskine.

He was in critical condition in hospital earlier this week.

Hayden said more donations and auction items, which now include a track hoe work to build a dugout, are being accepted through the auction market to help Walstrom.
