SWP awards
Saskatchewan Wheat Pool won several awards at the Co-operative Information Fair hosted by the National Council of Farmer Co-operatives.
The pool won first place for its annual report Defining Agri-Business for the Next Century.
It also won first in the issue-based/crisis campaign class for its transportation campaign, which included advertising, media relations and other internal and external communication mediums.
It took first place in the advertising campaign class for its Adventurers’ ads. Through a series of ads featuring the heroes of the Adventurers’ Club, the pool encouraged children to visit the Adventurers’ website.

Open Farm Days continues to enjoy success in its 14th year running, as Alberta farms and agri-businesses were showcased to increase awareness on how food gets to the dinner plate.
Sask Pool won second place in the internal identity/awareness campaign for its safety ads.
The pool also placed third in the advertising campaign class for its safety nets campaign, which the pool developed to make producers aware of the pool’s position on the nationally funded relief programs and to encourage government to act in farmers’ interests.
New board
TML Foods of Melfort, Sask., recently announced changes to its board of directors.
Thomas Gorman of Ottawa, replaces Carl Neggers as a director. Neggers resigned March 10 to take an administrative position in the Saskatchewan government.
Gorman serves on the boards of directors of several corporations.
Douglas Mutschler of Regina, replaces Leo Hayes, who retired after serving for years on the boards of TML Foods Inc. and Federated Co-operatives Ltd.
Carrier of year
CN Rail has been named Carrier of the Year from Occidental Chemical Corporation for the third consecutive year. The award was presented March 12 in Dallas, Texas.
CN rated first in performance, ahead of eight other class one railways.
The OxyChem awards rate carriers for safety, on-time performance, bad-order car reporting, billing accuracy, timely reporting of quarterly reviews and carrier surveys.
