Conservation awards
The Coronach Conservation Co-op of Coronach, Sask., received a Saskatchewan Soil Conservation Association award this year. The group conservation award is sponsored annually by Monsanto and The Western Producer.
The Coronach group has leased several direct seeding machines over the past few years for direct seeding comparisons on the members’ farms. It also held demonstrations and tours. Limerick farmer Cecil Reisner received the individual conservation award. Marv Fenrich, SSCA president, said Reisner has demonstrated innovative approaches to soil conservation.

Wilson Farms of Rosedale, and the Delia Conservation 2000 Club, recently received awards from the Alberta Conservation Tillage Society. The industry award went to Dianne Finstad of RDTV in Red Deer.
Conservation farm family for 1995 is the Keith Wilson family of the Rosedale area. Wilson is the fourth generation to farm in the Verdant Valley region east of Drumheller, and has employed direct seeding and zero-till practices.
The Delia Conservation 2000 Club was formed in 1992 and now has 22 members.
Milk directors
Three retiring directors to the Lethbridge Milk Producers Association have been re-elected for three-year terms. They include Bill Van Rootselaar of Fort Macleod, Casey Slingerland of Diamond City and Brian Houweling of Coaldale.
They join sitting directors Gerrit Van Zeggelaar and Peter Schuld of Iron Springs, Klaas Slomp and Delbert Kooy of Nobleford, Rod Cyr of Pincher Creek and Harry Knelson of Coaldale.
CCMA executive
The Canadian Chicken Marketing Agency has established this year’s executive.
At the recent annual meeting, Lloyd Sandercock of Balcarres, Sask., was elected for a second year as chair. He runs a 5,000-acre operation and raises 540,000 kilograms of chicken annually.
First vice-chair is Ed Benjamins of Moorefield, Ont., who operates a mixed farm and raises 400,000 kgs of chicken each year.
Marcel Michaud of Fredericton, N.B., is second vice-chair. He grows 1.2 million kgs of chicken annually.
Wally Doerksen is an executive member of the agency. He farms near Steinbach, Man., and raises 190,000 kgs of chicken each year
