Majority acclaimed
Sixty of a possible 68 delegates to Saskatchewan Wheat Pool were elected by acclamation at the close of nominations in mid-February. Four newcomers, acclaimed when incumbents stepped down, include David Pattyson of Tribune, Mark Hudec of Fox Valley, Grant Gellert of Stornoway and Dennis Puszkarenko of Nipawin.
They replace Palmer Melby of Oungre, Wallace Winter of Burstall, Terry Korol of Canora and Leo Hlek of Codette.
In elections, which close March 22, eight incumbents are being challenged. Those elected will start two-year terms of office beginning April 1.

The pool has also called a byelection in district 11, sub-district 4, caused by the resignation of Kindersley delegate Morley Swalm. Nominations opened March 1 and the byelection will close April 14.
Meat council president
Yves Lalonde of St. Hyacinthe, Que. has been elected president of the Canadian Meat Council for 1994. He has a background in the meat packing industry and is general manager of sales and marketing, processed meats division, of Olymel and Company Ltd.
After his election, Lalonde announced the meat council’s head office will relocate in September to Ottawa from Islington, Ont.
Professor appointed
Frank Sosulski has been awarded the W.H. White Chair in the department of crop science and plant ecology at the University of Saskatchewan. The appointment entitles him to a $15,000 annual research grant funded from royalties on crop varieties. Sosulski replaces Al Slinkard as holder of the chair.
Sosulski, originally from Weyburn, Sask., is a specialist in grain chemistry and technology and had developed various techniques for extracting materials from field peas, faba beans, sunflower, rapeseed, wheat and oats. He developed wild oats as a breakfast cereal and holds two patents on dehulling of canola and mustard.
