Wheat producers election

LETHBRIDGE, Alta. (Special) – Two new directors and one incumbent have been acclaimed to the Alberta Winter Wheat Producers Commission.

Clint Stienely of Empress succeeds retiring director Bryan Corns of Grassy Lake.

Re-elected was Allan Gajdostik of Foremost. Craig Shaw of Lacombe will fill another position until 2000 when an election will be held.

Other directors are Gary Sanford of Magrath, Lloyd Mercer of Lethbridge, Doug Wright of Nobleford and Ed Kettenbach of Calgary.

Sharol Siewert of Lethbridge is executive director and Bob Simmons of Lethbridge is the commission’s consultant.

FCC appointees

Farm Credit Corp. recently filled two senior positions.

Jacques Lagaoe is now national director, government and industry relations, and Francois Couture is assistant vice-president, farm financing for Quebec.

Lagaoe will work from Ottawa to represent the FCC with federal ministries, agencies and crown corporations. He will also work with agricultural and banking sectors.

Lagaoe is a professional agrologist and chartered appraiser.

Courture will use his experience in sales, marketing and business administration to lead FCC lending operations in Quebec. He has a bachelor’s degree in rural economics and is a member of the American Marketing Association.

Sask Pork leader

Jerome Warick is the new general manager of Sask Pork. His appointment was announced Dec. 9.

Warick has been involved in the pork industry as a producer for more than 30 years and has served on numerous agricultural related boards. He acted as program co-ordinator for the quality assurance program with SPI Marketing Group from March 1997 until he joined Sask Pork at its inception in April 1998.

Sask Pork collects and administers a provincial levy on all Saskatchewan hogs sold for slaughter. It intends to develop a range of services for hog producers in the areas of industry promotion, research, market development and quality assurance.
