Larry Schneider, former mayor of Regina, has been appointed general manager of the Prairie Implement Manufacturers Association.
Schneider replaced Brett Filson, who left in December to start a business in Calgary.

Manitoba Parkland research station grapples with dry year
Drought conditions in northwestern Manitoba have forced researchers at the Parkland Crop Diversification Foundation to terminate some projects and reseed others.
Jayas was selected because of his research with grain storage and handling. For the past 10 years he has been working to ensure that high-quality grain does not spoil once it is in the bin.
Using a series of mathematical models, Jayas can now predict the spoilage before it occurs. These models developed from field observations, predict the movement of moisture and heat – the two most important factors causing stored grain to spoil.
Jayas is also working with Prince Rupert Grain to develop a system to identify and monitor grains and oilseeds as they pass through the handling system with the use of a camera and computer.
Agrifood consultants
Alberta Agriculture has hired three consultants to assist people with agrifood business development and specialization, the department reports.
Based in Lethbridge, Grand Prairie and Red Deer, the consultants offer current information and technology plus access to government services and programs.
“Proposals are confidential,” said Grande Prairie consultant Karen Goad. “Your permission is required to share details we need to access information to build your plan.”
Consultants can be reached at 403-538-5285 (Goad in Grand Prairie); 403-381-5130 (Karen Hoover in Lethbridge); and 403-340-5358 (Joyce Lencucha in Red Deer); or by calling the RITE operator.
