New locomotives
CN is getting some high-powered help to handle record traffic levels.
Twenty-three new 4400 HP locomotives have been delivered to CN’s Calder yard in Edmonton.
The locomotives are suited to long distances and heavy tonnages which are characteristic of Western Canadian rail traffic, CN said in a news release.
All the locomotives will be based in Edmonton.
Winter Wheat Commission
The Alberta Winter Wheat Producers Commission has a new board of directors.
On the executive is chair Brian Otto of Warner. Bryan Noble of Nobleford is vice-chair, Ike Lanier of Lethbridge is the past chair, Sharon Siewert is the executive director and Bob Simmons is the consultant.

Other members on the board are Norris Tomlinson of Magrath, Dan Stryker of Foremost, Bryan Corns of Grassy Lake and Ed Kettenbach of Rockyford.
New auctioneer director
Glenn Roth of Rosthern has been elected president of the Saskatch-ewan Auctioneers Association.
Larry Buchinski of Endeavour is vice-president. Kevin Lackey of Weyburn is a director.
PAMI directory
A new special crops equipment directory is available to help farmers find their way through the maze of specialized equipment.
The book published by the Prairie Agriculture Machinery Institute and Saskatchewan Agriculture contains over 1,000 listings on special crops’ equipment and includes descriptions of equipment and contact information for manufacturers and dealers.
The directory is like a yellow pages for specialized equipment, saving producers time and money when looking for equipment, PAMI said in a news release.
PAMI also has a computerized database and information retrieval system containing manufacturers’ brochures and detailed information on machinery.
