BCMB appointees
Two people were recently appointed to the British Columbia Marketing Board. Karen Webster of Surrey and Christine Moffatt of Kamloops were confirmed as board members by B.C. agriculture minister David Zirnhelt.
Webster has an education background and an interest in consumer marketing. Moffatt has legal training.
The BCMB is an appointed body with members selected for their experience and knowledge in various sectors of provincial agriculture and the food industry.
College president retires
Bob Bigsby, president of Olds College in Olds, Alta., will retire next August after 10 years with the school, the last five of them as president.

“It’s been a rewarding experience to see the growth and development of Olds College. It is Canada’s largest diploma-level institution devoted to agriculture, horticulture and land-based environmental studies,” he said.
Bigsy said he may develop some properties in the Okanagan in his retirement, and revisit some overseas locations where he worked before moving to Alberta.
Olds College enrolled approximately 1,000 fulltime students this fall and has another 3,000 students taking shorter programs.
Morris Industries awarded
Morris Industries Inc. of Saskatoon will be named to the Saskatchewan business hall of fame at the Achievement for Business Excellence awards dinner Oct. 29, in Regina.
The hall of fame was established by the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce to recognize businesses that have demonstrated excellence over an extended period, contributing to the economic well being of the province.
Morris Industries was founded in 1929 by George Morris, in Bangor, Sask. It later moved to Yorkton, where its farm implement manufacturing became a multi-million dollar operation. It now employs over 400 people, and is based in Saskatoon.
