Mascot named
The Alberta Egg Producers Board has named its mascot from more than 1,100 entries in a name-the-egg contest. The name Yolky Dokey was suggested by three siblings who live in Calgary. Yolky, a large egg wearing a track suit and headband, has already made numerous appearances in Alberta.
The second place selection for names was Eggberta and third place was won for the name GrrrEGG.

Penning changes
The Canadian Western Agribition plans changes to its team penning and cutting horse competitions.
The team penning competition will feature purses of about $8,000 in each of the event’s two divisions – the open and number seven divisions.
The top four teams in each of the open and the number seven will be invited to compete as a feature during the evening rodeo. The events are scheduled to run Nov. 26 at the Regina Agridome.
Explaining the one to five classification system, event organizer Glenda Snell said all team penners can enter the open event, while the number seven is restricted to teams whose total is seven or less. There is a limit of 25 teams in each of the two classes.
In the cutting horse competition, a new event has been added for this year. A $3,000 limit class has been added to last year’s open and non-pro classes.
The $3,000 limit is a class for younger horses that have not yet won a total of $3,000 in previous shows.
The cutting horse championship features two performances – Nov. 27-28, with an estimated $10,000-added prize purse will be up for grabs.
