Hall of Fame nominations
Nominations for the 1997 Alberta Agriculture Hall of Fame will be accepted until the end of July 1996.
Nomination forms can be picked up from any district agriculture office or from the communications division at the Alberta Agriculture offices in the J.G. O’Donoghue Building, 7000 113 St., Edmonton, T6H 5T6.
Any Albertan who has made an exceptional contribution to agriculture at the local, provincial, national or international level is eligible for nomination.
Those chosen to be inducted into the Hall of Fame will be honored at a ceremony during Agriculture Awareness Week next March.

Communications award
Claire Watson, manager of Saskatchewan Wheat Pool’s communications service, is a triple winner in the international gold Quill Awards for communications excellence.
The wheat pool’s The Future of Farming multi-media campaign won two awards of excellence and one merit award.
New chair for Gehl
William D. Gehl is the new board chair of Gehl Company, a Wisconsin-based construction and agriculture equipment manufacturer.
He has been Gehl’s president and chief executive officer since joining the company in 1992.
Arts work honored
Saskatoon-based Intercontinetal Packers Ltd. has received the 1996 Business in the Arts Award for Sustained Support from the Council for Business and the Arts in Canada.
The award, which was presented to Intercon chair Johanna Mitchell, recognizes the company’s support of the Mendel Art Gallery in Saskatoon. The gallery received significant financial support when it was built in 1964 from Mitchell’s father, Fred Mendel, who also founded Intercon.
New FCC board member
Ed Clark, a former Liberal agriculture minister from Prince Edward Island, has been appointed to the Farm Credit Corporation’s board of directors. Clark is a farmer from Miscouche, P.E.I.
