Lesyk and Dwight Overlid own and operate Double D Arena, where they have raised Texas Longhorn cattle since 1988. They are charter members of the Saskatchewan Texas Longhorn Association and members of the Alberta Texas Longhorn Association.
B.C. board appointments
Two appointments were made in late December to the British Columbia Marketing Board by provincial agriculture minister Corky Evans.
Satwinder Bains, who operates a blueberry and cranberry farm in Abbotsford, and Hamish Bruce, manager of Tartan Tree Farms in Richmond, were appointed to one-year terms.
Bains and Bruce are both members of the farm practices board, established to provide a fair process for resolving farm practice disputes out of court.
The marketing board is a supervisory and appeal body of the government that oversees the operations of 11 commodity boards in B.C.
