Agriculture companies doing well at ABEX

Now that the cream has risen to the top, it’s time to extract the best.

The final nominees for the 1998 ABEX Awards have been selected and the winners are scheduled to be announced Oct. 24 at the Queensbury Centre in Regina.

The ABEX awards, in their 15th year, recognize Saskatchewan businesses for achievements in nine categories.

The province’s agricultural and farming industries will be represented by 16 businesses competing in seven categories.

New Saskatchewan Product: Kotylak Industries in Montmartre for producing Chemmix. Philom Bios Inc. of Saskatoon for developing a dual inoculant for pulse crops called TagTeam. R. Roth Enterprises International from Landis for engineering chemical handling and seed treatment systems.

Community Involvement: Custom Built Ag. Industries Ltd. from Gravelbourg for its support of sport, education and volunteer community groups. Saskatchewan Wheat Pool in Regina for its involvement in the Pool Tankard men’s provincial curling championship.

Job Creation: Cover-All Shelter Systems in Saskatoon and Custom Built Ag. Industries Ltd.

Marketing: Cover-All Shelter Systems for becoming the largest manufacturer of fabric-covered buildings in North America.

Investment: Saskatchewan Wheat Pool for constructing hog facilities, feed mills and grain terminals.

Exports: CanGro Processors in Lucky Lake. Precision Metal Fabricating Ltd. in Saskatoon, Cover-All Shelter Systems and Dutch Industries Ltd.

Cornerstone Saskatchewan business: Kramer Tractor Ltd.
