MANITOBA

East

  • Winter wheat and barley harvest complete, canola 100 percent swathed and 50 percent combined (35-45 bushels per acre) and spring wheat 80 percent combined (45-55 bu. per acre).
  • Corn, sunflowers and soybeans filling.

Central

  • Rain and cooler temperatures delayed harvest.
  • Cereal crops are largely harvested with variable yields and good quality. Winter wheat 65-85 bu., spring wheat 35-65 bu. and barley 35-120 bu.

Interlake

  • Rain delayed harvest.
  • Cereal harvest is nearly complete, canola swathed and combining begun.
  • Wheat 40-60 bu. per acre, barley 40-80 bu. and canola 25-40 bu.
  • Pastures are fair.

West

  • Winter wheat, fall rye and peas are all harvested, with below average yields.
  • Barley and oat harvests have begun but rain and cool temperatures have delayed combining.
  • Canola swathing continues but little combined.
  • Flax is ripening.
  • Pastures are fair to good, with delays to second cut haying.

SASKATCHEWAN

Rain delayed harvest across the province.

South

  • Winter wheat and pulse harvest is completed.
  • Oilseeds are 20 percent combined, with average to below average yields. Barley harvest is underway, with yields average to below average and variable protein levels and bushel weights.
  • Heavy kochia populations are challenging harvest operations.
  • Hay fields are recovering in recent rains.

Central

  • Fall rye and winter wheat harvest continues, barley and peas about 10 percent complete and most canola now swathed.
  • Yields are variable, ranging from average to below average.
  • Pastures are good.

West

  • Fall rye and winter wheat crops are furthest ahead, followed by lentils and peas.
  • Most canola is swathed but wind has caused damage.
  • Pastures are fair to good with recent rains.

North

  • Pastures are fair to good.

ALBERTA

South

  • Harvest is complete on a majority of dryland acres.
  • Harvest on irrigated land continues. Yields are good, with lighter than expected bushel weights.
  • Potato harvest is now on.
  • Showers and heavy morning dew have caused minor delays.
  • Field conditions are quite dry, with reports of combine fires.
  • Pastures are poor due to dry conditions.

Central

  • Showers and cool weather have delayed harvest operations.
  • Silage making is 20-40 percent complete.
  • Early barley and peas are being combined. Canola swathing is now in full swing except for later fields that are still green.
  • Yields average to above average.
  • Pastures are in good condition.

North

  • Showers and cool weather delayed harvest.
  • Peas are 60-75 percent combined, yielding 30-55 bu. an acre.
  • Pre-harvest on wheat has started, canola swathing is in full swing and barley swathing is on.
  • Pastures are in good condition.

Peace River

  • Cool, wet weather slowed crop maturity and harvest.
  • Cereals nearing hard dough stage. Early canola fields being swathed.
  • Early wheat and pea fields are being harvested, with average yields.
  • Weed growth has been heavy.
  • Yields variable for canola but cereals look average to above average.
  • Pastures are fair to good.
  • Second cut hay is down.
