East

  • Seeding is mostly complete. Cereals in the three to four leaf stage. Flax and canola emerging. Weeds are aggressive. Winter wheat looks excellent.

Central

  • Seeding is nearing completion. Some canola, flax and sunflowers to be planted. Emergence very good for early sown crops. Weeds are heavy. Minor flea beetle activity reported.

Interlake

West

  • Seeding is nearing completion. In the southwest, winter wheat is in very good shape, although leaf diseases are showing up. Early cereals are in the one to four leaf stage. Generally excellent growing conditions reported in the northwest. Canola is emerging.

South

  • Seeding progress is variable due to rain and wet areas in the southeast. Many producers are finished, while others are 50 to 70 percent completed. In the southwest, seeding is nearing completion. Winter wheat is good to excellent across the south. Weed growth is heavy. Herbicides are being applied.

Central

  • Heavy but scattered rains delayed seeding. Seeding progress remains variable. Some producers are nearing completion. Others in the east-central area are only 50 to 60 percent complete. Seeded crops emerging well. Heavy weed growth throughout the area.

North

  • Seeding progress remains variable. In the northeast, the most advanced areas are nearing 70 percent seeded. Early sown crops look good in that region. In the northwest, many producers are finished seeding. Others are only 70 percent complete. Weed pressure is high.

South

  • Seeding is winding down. In-crop spraying has started. Overall crop conditions are very good. Pea leaf weevil in peas, with considerable acreage sprayed. Wireworms reported. Powdery mildew reported in winter wheat.

Central

  • Seeding nearly complete. Early sown wheat at two to four leaf, canola one to two leaf, barley one to three leaf and peas at one to three node. Crops are generally in very good to excellent condition. Some minor flea beetle and seedling blight in canola.

North

  • In the northeast, seeding progress ranges from 75 to 100 percent complete. Sown crops are generally in very good condition. In the northwest, seeding is nearing completion. Weed growth is heavy across the region. Minor flea beetles reported. Hay and pastures are in excellent condition.

Peace River

  • Seeding is complete. Cereal crops are at two to three leaf stage. Canola is at cotyledon to two leaf. Crops are generally looking good. Weed growth is heavy. Spraying continues as weather permits. Seedling blight reported in canola. Some producers are considering reseeding.
