  • Oats and flax harvest under way. Poor yields expected. Canola yields are low with lots of fields being straight cut due to thin stands.
  • Greenfeed in swath is losing quality. Second cut of hay has started but is low yielding.

Central

  • Wet or drowned out areas have very low yields and quality.
  • Wheat yields are low and variable from five-15 bu. in east and 30-40 bu. further west, with most grading No. 2 due to fusarium.
  • Barley is yielding 20-70 bu. with highest yields and quality in west, oats 20-70 bu. with low weights, canola three-15 bu. in east and 20-35 bu. in west although some reporting 45-55 bu. in the Neepawa area.
  • Ergot is a problem in wheat and barley in the Portage area. Alternaria is reported in canola.
  • Potato yields are below average in all areas with irregular shaped tubers in the Portage area. Average yields are expected in corn and soybeans.

Southwest

  • Winter wheat is completed with yields of two-45 bu. and very poor quality due to fusarium.
  • Wheat is 25 percent harvested. Quality variable due to fusarium.
  • Barley is 20 to 60 percent harvested with yields of 35-70 bu. and below average quality.
  • Oats are five to 35 percent harvested. Quality lower than expected.
  • Canola is 80 percent swathed. Yields well below average.

  • Sprouting is a problem in barley.
  • Many fields are lodged at the field’s edge due to sawfly damage.
