Doctor donates to safety project

Nearly 30 acres of land valued at $1.3 million on the west side of Regina will accelerate development of the Safety Centre of Excellence project thanks to the donation by local physician and surgeon Dr. Ronald Ailsby to the Saskatchewan Safety Council.

The Saskatchewan Safety Centre of Excellence plans to bring a new multi-developmental facility designed from the ground up for injury prevention research, innovation, and education.

It will focus on a unique sector of injury prevention work, including traffic and pedestrian, youth, seniors and community, rural and agriculture, recreation and workplace.

Farmers receive Planet of Plenty awards

The Alltech Canada Planet of Plenty award recognizes farmers, producers and ranchers who are harnessing the power of agriculture.

This year’s winners include:

  • Ferme Robec — producing milk in an economically and ecological way
  • Shipwheel Cattle Feeders Ltd. — holistic management for sustainable beef cattle production
  • Burnbrae Farms — sustainable egg production

Food system funded

The federal government plans to spend up to $1.9 million to help the Canadian Food Innovation Network develop a digital food innovation hub, designed to improve connectivity among players in Canada’s food innovation sector.

The project aims to bring together individual components of Canada’s food system into an online community.

Businesses will have access to one-on-one mentorship as well as knowledge, research and innovation resources.

The network will help identify and match entrepreneurs with technical expertise and partnerships to help foster economic growth.
