New pulse official

Sheri Strydhorst is the Alberta Pulse Growers Commission’s new executive director.

Strydhorst is a recent PhD graduate from the University of Alberta and has worked on nitrogen fixation and increasing the use of pulse crops in Alberta. She has worked with cool season pulses for eight years.

Strydhorst is originally from St. Albert, Alta., but now lives and farms with her husband near Neerlandia, Alta.

New head at Ag-West

Perry Lidster is the new president and chief executive officer of Ag-West Bio Inc.

Lidster has had a lengthy career in management and research in public and private organizations.

Since 1998, he has served in various capacities with SunBlush Technologies Corp., which provides natural life extension technologies to the fresh produce and flower industries.

In 2003, he restructured the company, creating a new company, FreshXtend Technologies Corp.

Lidster succeeds Ashley O’Sullivan, who recently retired.

Ag-West Bio Inc. builds partnerships and develops strategic alliances between industrial, research and producer groups with the aim of commercializing innovative products.

APAS official

Nial Kuyek is the Agricultural Producers Association of Saskatchewan’s new general manager.

Kuyek comes to APAS from the Saskatchewan Bison Association, where he served as executive director.

He has worked for 35 years at senior levels in the private and public sectors and has extensive knowledge in agriculture, co-operatives and rural environments.

He has held a variety of positions with provincial and federal governments and also worked with Saskatchewan Wheat Pool for 18 years in member relations and the executive offices. During his career with the pool, he spent two years in Ottawa at the policy branch of Agriculture Canada.

Kuyek took over responsibility for the day to day operations of APAS June 16.
