Flood co-ordinator

The Saskatchewan government has appointed Bernie Churko to co-ordinate its response to flooding at Fishing and Waldsea lakes.

He will work with local communities to lower water levels and put structures in place to reduce flooding in the future, review drainage patterns in the area and recommend any needed changes.

Churko will also participate in the review of the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program.

Churko is a former provincial government employee who most recently worked with the Farmer Rail Car Coalition and its efforts to buy the federal government’s hopper car fleet.
