Organic head
Don Kizlyk has been elected president of the Saskatchewan Organic Directorate.
Kizlyk has served on the SOD executive and brings experience in the organic sector. He and his wife Donna operate a market garden and supply certified organic vegetables to the local market. They also grow hay on about 300 acres near Fosston, Sask.
Kizlyk replaces outgoing president Arnold Taylor.
Terminal funds ski hill
Prairie West Terminal, a producer-owned inland grain terminal located between Dodsland and Plenty in Saskatchewan, will contribute $90,000 to Twin Tower Management Ltd. to help finance capital improvements to a ski hill at Stranraer, Sask.

Pulse research
The Agri-Food Research Development Initiative in Saskatchewan is funding a team of researchers at the University of Manitoba to develop new food products from pulse crops.
The research group will provide a $135,300 grant over two years in hopes of expanding markets for raw pulse crops and processed pulse foods.
The researchers will use processing technologies such as steaming, roasting and micronization to determine how pulse crops can be used in food.
Agrologists honoured
The Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists presented eight awards to agrologists and rural leaders at its 61st annual conference, held April 6 in Yorkton, Sask.
Recipients of the distinguished agrologist award included Pat Gerwing of Swift Current, Jim Gorman of Yorkton, Bryan Harvey of Saskatoon and Craig Smith of Yorkton.
The outstanding young agrologist award went to Kari Nicholas of Saskatoon and the SIA honorary life membership award went to Terry Pearse of Candle Lake and Margaret Skinner of Wilkie.
The Saskatchewan agriculture department received the agriculture excellence award.
