Philom Bios board

Philom Bios has announced the election of its directors, which occurred at its Feb. 14 annual meeting.

Chair John Cross, John Becherer, Wayne Brownlee, Beverley Brennan, Gordon Froehlich, Rod Merryweather, Richard Stegmann, Rod Weins and Gren Yuel were all elected to the board. All except Froehlich have sat on the Philom Bios board in the past.

Froehlich lives in Manitoba, where he owns a life science-agribusiness consulting practice. He serves as vice-president of business development of Genesys Ventures.

Philom Bios is a Canadian inoculant company.

Barley growers board

The Western Barley Growers Association has elected Jeff Nielsen as its new president.

Nielsen runs a 1,350 acre grain and oilseed farm near Olds, Alta. He is also active in the Alberta Barley Commission and is a director of Agricore United. He replaces Doug McBain of Cremona, Alta., who will serve as past-president.

Soft wheat board

The board of directors for the Alberta Soft Wheat Producers Commission will be unchanged for 2006.

None of the directors’ terms expired and none resigned.

Director Everett Tanis of Picture Butte, the credentials committee chair, said president Peter Pepneck of Vauxhall and vice-president Cory Vanden Elzen of McNally agreed to remain in those offices for the year.

Other board members include John Crooymans of Bow Island, Henry Schulz of Vauxhall, Lloyd Bennett and Daryl Bennett of Taber, Tony Brummelhuis of Rainier and Harry Phillipsen of Patricia.
