Facility renamed
The Regina Exhibition Association has signed a 10-year, $500,000 sponsorship agreement with Saskatchewan credit unions that will see the association’s new multipurpose facility named Credit Union EventPlex.
The new facility was officially opened this past June in Regina. The sponsorship announcement was made on Oct. 21, Credit Union Day, an annual event that recognizes credit unions internationally.
The Credit Union EventPlex provides flexible space for trade shows, conventions and recreational events and consists of 90,000 sq. feet of space with 35 foot high ceilings and bleacher seating for 1,000 people.

Phosphate prices to remain high
Phosphate prices are expected to remain elevated, according to Mosaic’s president.
In the three months the facility has been open, it has been used for the Western Canada Farm Progress Show, Buffalo Days and as the wrestling venue during the Jeux du Canada Summer Games. It is estimated that the facility will host more than 600,000 visitors annually.
4-H scholarship
Merial Canada Inc. is offering 4-H youth the opportunity to win scholarships to help finance post-secondary education. A $1,000 Ivomec 4-H scholarship will be awarded to each winner of the annual contest.
Applicants must respond to a question about future developments in livestock production over the next decade. Applicants can respond in a variety of mediums including a 500-750 word essay, a video, a speech on audiocassette or a poster.
Evaluators also rate the applicants’ community and volunteer involvement. Applicants must be at least 16 years old and must have been 4-H members for at least two years.
Merial Canada has funded nearly 400 4-H scholarships and donated more than $575,000 to the scholarship fund and related 4-H programs.

canada.ca or at www.ivomec-4h.com. Entries must be received by the Canadian 4-H Council office via mail or on-line submission no later than May 1, 2006. Winners will be announced in July 2006.
CGC offers grading
The Canadian Grain Commission is offering producers grading and analytical results on harvest samples submitted from the 2005 harvest.
Results will be available at the Canadian Western Agribition Nov. 21-26 in Regina.
Data has been available on the commission’s website at www.grains
canada.gc.ca since Sept. 30.
Providing grading results at exhibitions is a new service at the CGC booth. Producers will also be able to obtain information on how to submit a harvest sample in 2006.
Data available at Agribition will include an unofficial grade and the following results on individual harvest samples tested by the commission’s grain research laboratory:
- Protein content for cereal grains and pulses.
- Oil, protein and chlorophyll content for canola.
- Oil and protein content and iodine value for flaxseed.
