Nitrogen website

Agrotain International recently launched a website at www.agrotain.com that highlights its nitrogen stabilizer products.

The website includes a number of animated demonstrations that show how the nitrogen stabilizer technology works.

Hereford group manager

Gordon Stephenson is the new general manager of the Canadian Hereford Association.

Most recently Stephenson was executive director of the Western Beef Development Centre. He has extensive agriculture experience working with Hoechst Canada Inc. As well, he has managed a 300 head Hereford ranch in Saskatchewan and was manager and president of Canadian Western Agribition and executive secretary of the Canadian Chianina Association.

Student ag program

Twenty-four Grade 11 and 12 students from the four western Canadian provinces were expected to arrive in Regina on Nov. 24 for Adventures in Agriculture, a five-day agriculture and public speaking program. The students are to tour various agricultural facilities and prepare and present speeches based on the tours. The event was sponsored by the Regina Eastview Rotary Club and held in association with the Canadian Western Agribition.

Leadership award

The Food Safety Information Society has been named the 2004 recipient of the Growing Alberta Leadership Award in Food Safety. The FSIS is a non-profit organization that provides reliable food safety information to consumers. It offers a toll free consumer line in French and English across Canada.

The Growing Alberta Leadership Award in Food Safety is sponsored by Agriculture Canada and is one of six awards that recognize the contributions of individuals and groups to the Alberta agriculture industry.

CCA program accredited

Seminar and field day programs offered by Saskatchewan’s Irrigation Crop Diversification Corp. have been accredited under the Certified Crop Advisor program.

The program trains people who want to become independent consultants or employees of a crop input retailer or grain company.

The CCA is sponsored by the American Society of Agronomy.
