Co-op farm stewardship

Federated Co-op Ltd. is launching a new agronomic program called Grown With Purpose designed to improve yields and efficiency with on-farm practices that also recognize air, soil and water quality.

The stewardship program provides best management practices that assist crop planning and field operations.

Co-op Grow Team members will help farmers build customized strategies to improve fertilizer efficiency and other on-farm performance enhancements, while minimizing nutrient losses to the environment.

The program is designed to help producers collect and verify data so they can show how their farm is economically, environmentally and socially sustainable.

FCL is incorporating the sustainability principles of the 4R framework into its growing services. The 4Rs of nutrient stewardship emphasize the importance for farmers to use the right nutrient source at the right rate, right time and the right place in the field.

More information is available at local Co-op agro centres.
