The Western Producer mission statement is:

To be the best source of agricultural news and information.

The cornerstones of The Western Producer as a business are:

  • Publishing a credible newspaper with: fair, balanced reporting and informative, entertaining features for Western Canadian farm families; practical production and market information for farmers; editorial commentary supporting co-operation and orderly marketing; and an advertising marketplace for buyers and sellers of agricultural goods and services.

  • High-quality, credible reporting and analysis written by professionals especially for Western Producer reader needs and interests.
  • Timely news and reliable weekly delivery.
  • An accompanying magazine, Western People, providing articles, stories and poems about western personalities, and featuring the works of western writers.
  • Content designed for all members of farm families (men, women, youth, seniors).
  • Comprehensive coverage of all types of agriculture, including both domestic and international aspects.
  • Prairie-wide circulation and content.
  • The largest, most comprehensive farm classified section, a farm insurance service, and other newspaper-related services.

The Western Producer will continue to improve the organization, content and appearance of the newspaper to keep pace with evolving reader needs and desires.
