HOGS
The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was $76.65 July 30, down from $79.07 July 23.
U.S. hogs averaged $101.70 on a carcass basis July 30, down from $104.59 July 23.
The U.S. pork cutout was $123.89 per hundredweight July 30, up from $122.37 July 23.
The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to July 31 was 2.327 million, down from 2.332 million the previous week.
Slaughter was 2.537 last year at the same time.
In Canada, the July 31 Signature Four price was C$241.33 per 100 kilograms, down from $244.49.

The Hams Marketing cash price was $239.33, down from $242.49, HyLife was $256.80, down from $259.26, and OlyWest was $254.20, up from $251.60. OlyWest 2021 was $261.40, up from $256.50, and HyLife’s adjusted price was $263.98, up from $261.76.
BISON
Prices offered by Canadian buyers for slaughter in Canada start at $4-$4.15 per pound hot hanging weight for Grade A bison bulls and $3.90-$4.15 for heifers on very light trading. Canadian buyers are offering $4.60-$4.80 for prime bulls and $4.40-$4.70 for heifers for slaughter in the United States.
U.S. buyers are paying US$3.85-$4 per lb. hot hanging weight for prime bulls from Canada for U.S. slaughter, where slaughter times are booked. Heifers are being purchased at $3.60-$3.80. Returns to producers are dependent on exchange rates, quality, transportation and export costs.
LAMBS
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 1,450 sheep, lambs and goats sold July 26.
Beaver Hill Auction in Tofield, Alta., reported that 1,192 sheep and 279 goats sold July 26.
Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $195-$227 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $195-$220, 70-85 lb. were $200-$228, 86-105 lb. were $210-$232 and 106 lb. and heavier were $215-$232. Wool rams were $135-$207 per cwt. Cull ewes were $128-$180.
Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $150-$175 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $180-$200, 70-85 lb. were $180-$200, 86-105 lb. were $195-$220 and 106 lb. and heavier were $195-$210. Hair rams were $130-$205 per cwt. Cull ewes were $100-$150.
