Hogs weaker
U.S. cash hog markets fell on ample market-ready supply and declining pork prices.
Many packers had secured supply to the end of the year. Demand will be slow because plants will be closed for Christmas and New Years Day.
Iowa-southern Minnesota hogs delivered were US$63-63.50 per hundredweight Dec. 12, down from $64 Dec. 5.
U.S. hogs averaged $81.44 on a carcass basis Dec. 12, down from $84.54 Dec. 5.
The U.S. pork cutout dropped to $92.55 per cwt. Dec. 12, down from $92.69 Dec. 5.

Bison steady
The Canadian Bison Association said finished bison prices were steady. Grade A bulls in the desirable weight range were as high as C$4.55 per lb. hot hanging weight.
Grade A heifers sold up to $4.35.
Animals outside the desirable buyer specifications may be discounted.
Lambs mostly steady
Beaver Hill Auction in Tofield, Alta., reported 1,233 sheep and 54 goats sold Dec. 8.
Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $200-$245 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $220-$245, 70-85 lb. were $210-$247, 86-105 lb. were $190-$210 and 106 lb. and heavier were $176-$200.
Wool rams were $53-$118 per cwt. Cull ewes were $45-$72.50 and bred ewes were $125-$210 per head.
Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $145-$185 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $185-$230, 70-85 lb. were $180-$236, 86-105 lb. were $176-$195 and 106 lb. and heavier were $160-$177.
Hair rams were $58-$91 per cwt. Cull ewes were $46-$80.
Feeder kids lighter than 60 lb. were $195-$210. Good kid goats lighter than 70 lb. were $200-$235. Those heavier than 70 lb. were $210-$250 per cwt. Nannies were $107.50-137.50 per cwt. Billies were $127.50-$145.
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported 1,884 sheep and lambs and 174 goats traded Dec. 8. Well-finished new crop lambs sold at a premium. All other lambs and goats sold steady. Sheep traded steady to higher.
