Stronger pork prices and improving demand for grilling meat helped to slightly lift U.S. cash hog prices.
Iowa-southern Minnesota live hogs delivered to plants rose to $80-$82 US per hundredweight June 6 from $80-$81 May 30.
On a carcass basis, Midwest hogs were $107.85 per cwt. on June 6, up from $106.3 on May 30.
The U.S. pork cutout rose to $120.60 per cwt. June 6, up from $116.01 on May 30.
U.S. estimated weekly slaughter for the week to June 7 was 1.93 million, up from 1.75 million in the previous week that was shortened by the Memorial Day holiday. Last year at the same time slaughter was 2.0063 million.

Bison steady
The Canadian Bison Association said Grade A bulls in the desirable weight range fetched prices as high as $4 per lb. Cdn hot hanging weight. Grade A heifers sold at prices up to $3.85.
Animals outside the desirable buyer specifications may be discounted.
Lamb prices climb
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported 1,232 sheep and lambs and 101 goats traded June 2. Lightweight new crops sold $7-$10 cwt. higher. Heavy lambs traded $5-$7 cwt. stronger.
Sheep were $3-$5 cwt. higher. Top quality goats sold at premiums with the rest steady.
