HOGS

The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was not available Nov.1. It was $56.81 Oct. 25.

Saskatchewan agriculture sector receives federal funding

U.S. hogs averaged $79.06 on a carcass basis Nov. 1, up from $75.66 Oct. 25.

The U.S. pork cutout was $103.97 per hundredweight Nov. 1, up from $98.94 Oct. 25.

The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to Nov. 1 was 2.434 million. It was 2.437 million the previous week.

Slaughter was 2.407 million last year at the same time.

In Canada, the Nov. 2 Signature Four price was $212.65 per 100 kilograms, up from $207.56.

The Nov. 2 Hams Marketing cash price was $210.65, while on Oct. 26 it was $205.56. HyLife was $227.33 this week; it was $221.11 Oct. 26. OlyWest was $212.40, up from $208.30 last week.

OlyWest 2021 was up, at $227.60, from $222.40, and HyLife’s adjusted price was $241.39 this week. On Oct. 26 it was $230.32.

BISON

The Canadian Bison Association reported domestic carcass prices $570-$600 per cwt., hot hanging weight, for finished bulls $540-$570 per cwt. for finished heifers. Mature bulls were $375-$400 per cwt., while mature cows were $400-$425 per cwt.

Carcass prices for bison sold into the United States were US$440-$460 per cwt. for bulls and $425-$445 per cwt. for heifers. Prices for mature bulls and cows were not available. All prices are subject to fluctuations in the market and dollar exchange rates.

Prices for live bison in Canada were C$3 per pound for bulls and $2.70 per lb. for heifers of good quality or better. The mixed live animal price was not available.

LAMBS

Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 247 sheep and 295 lambs sold Oct. 28.

Beaver Hill Auctions at Tofield, Alta., reported that 1,759 sheep and 406 goats sold Oct. 28.

Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $275-$350 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $275-$348, 70-85 lb. were $245-$295, 86-105 lb. were $225-$263, and 106 lb. and heavier were $210-$250. Wool rams were $130-$205 per cwt. Cull ewes were $150-$205.

Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $270-$325, 55-69 lb. were $240-$300, 70-85 lb. were $225-$270, 86-105 lb. were $215-$245 and 106 lb. and heavier were $210-$240. Hair rams were $150-$175 per cwt. Cull ewes were $130-$175.
