The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was not available Oct. 4. It was $56.60 Sept. 27.
U.S. hogs averaged $74.89 on a carcass basis Oct. 4, down from $75.11 Sept. 27.

The Oct. 5 Hams Marketing cash price was $201.39, while on Sept. 28 it was $201.23. HyLife was unavailable this week and Sept. 28. OlyWest was $203.20, down from $205.20 last week.
OlyWest 2021 was down, at $216.80, from $219.10. HyLife’s adjusted price was unavailable this week and Sept. 28.
Bison
The Canadian Bison Association reported domestic carcass prices of $545-$575 per cwt., hot hanging weight, for finished bulls and $520-$550 per cwt. for finished heifers.
Carcass prices for bison sold into the United States were US$430-$455 per cwt. for bulls and $410-S$430 per cwt. for heifers. Prices for mature bulls and mature cows were not available. All prices are subject to fluctuations in the market and dollar exchange rates.
Prices for live bison in Canada were in the $3 per pound range for bulls and $2.70 per lb. for heifers of good quality or better. The mixed live animal price was not available.
Lambs
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 302 sheep and 609 lambs sold Sept. 30.
Beaver Hill Auctions at Tofield, Alta., reported that 1,421sheep and 217 goats sold Sept. 30.
Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $260-$325 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $270-$305, 70-85 lb. were $230-$282.50, 86-105 lb. were $210-$245, and 106 lb. and heavier were $210-$225. Wool rams were $120-$175 per cwt. Cull ewes were $100-$200.
Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $240-$300, 55-69 lb. were $240-$290, 70-85 lb. were $230-$270, 86-105 lb. were $210-$245 and 106 lb. and heavier were $210-$230. Hair rams were $130-$160 per cwt. Cull ewes were $110-$215.
