The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts on Sept. 20 was $56.42. It was $58.34 Sept. 13.
U.S. hogs averaged $76.88 on a carcass basis Sept. 20, down from $76 Sept. 13.

The U.S. pork cutout was $94.15 per hundredweight Sept. 20, down from $93.90 Sept. 13.
The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to Sept. 20 was 2.366 million. It was 2.410 million the previous week.
Slaughter was 2.425 million last year at the same time.
In Canada, the Sept. 21 Signature Four price was $204.67 per 100 kilograms, down from $207.85.
The Sept. 21 Hams Marketing cash price was $202.67, while on Sept. 14 it was $205.85. HyLife was $217.55 this week. It was not available Sept. 14. OlyWest was $206.70, down from $208.40 last week.
OlyWest 2021 was down, at $219.50, from $222.50, and HyLife’s adjusted price was $218.09 this week. It was unavailable Sept. 14.
Bison
The Canadian Bison Association reported that domestic carcass prices $545-$575 per cwt., hot hanging weight, for finished bulls and $520-$550 per cwt. for finished heifers. Mature bulls were not available. while mature cows were $375-$400 per cwt.
Carcass prices for bison sold into the United States were US$430-$455 per cwt. for bulls and $410-$430 per cwt. for heifers. Prices for mature bulls and cows were not available. All prices are subject to fluctuations in the market and dollar exchange rates.
Prices for live bison in Canada were $3 per pound for bulls and $2.70 per lb. for heifers of good quality or better. The mixed live animal price was not available.
Lambs
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 284 sheep and 485 lambs sold Sept. 16.
Beaver Hill Auctions at Tofield, Alta., reported that 1,894 sheep and 963 goats sold Sept 16.
Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $260-$335 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $270-$320, 70-85 lb. were $245-$290, 86-105 lb. were $230-$272, and 106 lb. and heavier were $215-$250. Wool rams were $125-$250 per cwt. Cull ewes were $110-$205.
Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $250-$295, 55-69 lb. were $250-$295, 70-85 lb. were $240-$285, 86-105 lb. were $220-$255 and 106 lb. and heavier were $210-$230. Hair rams were $125-$165 per cwt. Cull ewes were $125-$195.
