The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was $62.89 Aug. 16 and $63.90 Aug. 9.
U.S. hogs averaged $83 on a carcass basis Aug. 16, down from $83.53 Aug. 9.

The Aug. 17 Hams Marketing cash price was $218.98, while on Aug. 10 it was $226.22. HyLife was $233.82 this week, while on Aug. 10 it was $241.47. OlyWest was $226.70, down from $232.20 last week.
OlyWest 2021 was down, at $238.20, from $247.50, and HyLife’s adjusted price was $233.82 this week, while on Aug. 10 it was $241.62.
Bison
The Canadian Bison Association reported domestic carcass prices of $515-$550 per cwt., hot hanging weight, for finished bulls and $500-$525 per cwt. for finished heifers. Prices for mature bulls and cows were not available.
Carcass prices for bison sold into the United States were US$425- $450 per cwt. for bulls per cwt. and $410-$425 per cwt. for heifers. Mature bulls were not available while mature cows were $350$375 per cwt.. All prices are subject to fluctuations in the market and dollar exchange rates.
Prices for live bison in Canada were not available.
Lambs
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 345 sheep and 632 lambs sold Aug. 12.
Beaver Hill Auctions at Tofield, Alta., reported that 2,567 sheep and 341 goats sold Aug. 12
Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $270-$355 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $250-$315, 70-85 lb. were $245-$275, 86-105 lb. were $243-$275, and 106 lb. and heavier were $240-$275. Wool rams were $150-$205 per cwt. Cull ewes were $110-$225.
Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $230-$280, 55-69 lb. were $220-$290, 70-85 lb. were $220-$265, 86-105 lb. were $220-$260 and 106 lb. and heavier were $210-$255. Hair rams were $170-$190 per cwt. Cull ewes were $125-$200.
