Hogs
The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was $67.09 April 19. It was not available April 12.
U.S. hogs averaged $88.49 on a carcass basis April 19, up from $86.60 April 12.
The U.S. pork cutout was $100.09 per hundredweight April 19, down from $101.20 April 12.
The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to April 19 was 2.420 million. It was 2.396 million the previous week.
Slaughter was 2.368 million last year at the same time.
In Canada, the April 20 Signature Four price was $221.79 per 100 kilograms, up from $213.24.

The April 20 Hams Marketing cash price was $219.79, up from $211.24 April 13 while HyLife was $235.94 this week. On April 13 it was $228.41. OlyWest was $221.90, up from $211.
OlyWest 2021 was up, at $233.30, from $222.90, and HyLife’s adjusted price was $237.62, up from $232.88 April 13.
Bison
The Canadian Bison Association reported domestic carcass prices for finished bulls at $485-$510 per hundredweight, hot hanging weight. Finished heifers were $475-$510 per cwt. Mature bulls were $300 to $400 cwt., while mature cows were $300 to $400 cwt.
Carcass prices for bison sold into the United States were US$400-$430 for bulls per cwt., while heifers were $360-$400 per cwt. Mature bulls were $313-$326, while mature cows were $300-$315 per cwt. All prices are subject to fluctuations in the market and dollar exchange rates.
Prices for live bison in Canada were $2.50-$2.85 per pound for bulls and $2.00-$2.50 per lb. for heifers of good quality or better. Mixed live animal prices were $1.60-$2.38 per lb.
Lambs
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 363 sheep and 638 lambs sold April 15.
Beaver Hill Auctions at Tofield, Alta., reported that 1,310 sheep and 202 goats sold April 8.
Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $325-$385 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $325-$375, 70-85 lb. were $315-$384, 86-105 lb. were $300-$382, and 106 lb. and heavier were $290-$375. Wool rams were $130-$195 per cwt. Cull ewes were $120-$260.
Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $300-$350, 55-69 lb. were $290-$345, 70-85 lb. were $290-$345, 86-105 lb. were $290-$350 and 106 lb. and heavier were $280-$340. Hair rams were $160-$200 per cwt. Cull ewes were $126-$270.
Elk
The North American Elk Breeders Association reported domestic carcass prices at $499 per cwt., hot hanging weight, with prices projected to reach $544.30 by late summer.
Hunt farm animals sold in the range of $4,000 and higher for three-year-old bulls scoring 350 inches and $7,500 for four-year-old bulls scoring 500 inches. Five-year-old bulls scoring 500 inches sold for $20,000 and up, depending on style. Prices for the biggest bulls, scoring more than 600 inches, are negotiated on an individual basis.
Price for velvet antler was $70 per kilogram, frozen, while the price for top quality hard antler was $40 per kilogram.
